★ 3
Everand (formerly Scribd) offers a vast multilingual library of ebooks and audiobooks at an affordable price, with an intuitive interface that many find appealing. However, user feedback reveals significant trade-offs. While some praise the content range and value, others criticize poor search functionality, disappearing titles, and a listening/reading limit not disclosed upfront. Technical issues like bugs, offline playback restrictions, random logouts, and format lock-in (no EPUB export) frustrate users. The subscription model also draws mixed reactions: affordable for some, but for others, rising prices and the inability to keep unlocked books after cancellation feel like a bait-and-switch. Overall, the app provides solid content for casual users, but power readers may find the limitations and declining performance disappointing.

Saved media is simply locked until the next payment deadline. What was available in search suddenly disappears too. Subscribed restrictions... are cancelled. There are better alternatives for just €10 per month.

They have most titles I want and the interface is excellent. Selection is slightly limited, but my main issue is random logouts. Trying to quickly play a book on the go takes longer because I get logged out. While driving, I often press play on the banner player but have to sign in, so I can't listen. Please fix this! Otherwise, I prefer this over Audible.

Since my last review, the app has worsened. Most books are now unavailable for 2–3 weeks each month. Instead of reducing service, simply ask if we'd pay more. Bugs have improved, but the monthly block on books is frustrating. I'd prefer higher fees over this practice.
